Join us for a late winter morning looking for owls! We will target Northern Saw Whet Owls in the cedar groves of Moorehead Park with a chance of also seeing Long Eared Owls, Barred Owls, and Great Horned Owls! We will also take time to appreciate our winter residents such as Downy Woodpeckers, White-breasted Nuthatches, and Black-capped Chickadees and discuss how they survive chilly Iowa winters.
This event is free but advanced registration is required. Please come prepared for seasonal winter weather. Check the forecast ahead of time and dress in layers; snow boots or similar footwear is recommended as owls may not be located directly on trails.
Iowa Young Birders welcomes everyone to the outdoors regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, religion, creed, national origin, or disability status. Our events can accommodate wheelchairs, vision and hearing impairments, and other health conditions. For questions, or to request accommodations for an upcoming event, please send us a message or email.
