Trees are very important for birds. They provide shelter (nests, cavities, roosting cover), food (insects, sap, buds and seeds), and water (that's right, some birds will drink water that collects on leaves). Each field trip we learn how to identify birds. Why not learn how to identify these plants that are critical to the birds we love? Join us for a morning all about trees! Cathy Mabry McMullen, a botanist and tree expert from Iowa State University, will share tips with us on how to identify trees using leaves, bark, and other characteristics. Of course, we'll look for birds, too :). You won't want to miss it!

This trip is free but advanced registration is required. We welcome all young birders and their families - no prior experience necessary!
